Isla de Chiloe Accommodation Palafito Hostel Sustainability

Paula Almenara Mosqueira - Andrés Salinero San Martín

Eight years ago, Paula and Andrés came to live on the island of Chiloe. They loved this place because it is special and unique, and two years ago they bought a palafito with the idea of developing their project in it. They began the restoration which was not easy, as it was in very bad condition. They tried to recycle and salvage as much as possible based on the design of the "palafitos" (stilt houses of mid-century), stick windows, and wooden tiles on the walls.

Then, there came the opening of Palafito Hostel as baptized on the 10th of September 2008, with much success so far. They invite you to live the experience of staying in a palafito inserted into a traditional seashore neighbourhood on the island and experience the rise and fall of tides.
